Cheaper to call tow service directly

Updated by user Nov 09, 2025

Simple don’t use this company. Get AAA roadside, or call towing company directly!

Original review Oct 14, 2025

Be smart and don't use this service. Call the towing company directly.

The towing company will only charge you if you use their service.

This company will charge you $100 if you cancel service because you no longer need towing. No towing service on this planet will charge you for cancelling.

My phone died, and I ended up waiting there all night. They never showed up, but they marked the job as completed and charged my card $189.

Refund of $189.00

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Feb 17, 2025, I was charged $189.00 for roadside assistance that did not happen because the driver could not find my location and canceled driving out to my area. The $189.00 was still taken out of the account.

I want my funds put back into my account. I have been on the phone with roadside assistance numerous times and keep getting the run-around. I have the text message confirming I was approved to be reimbursed for the $189; however, it is not back in my account, and my bank is not holding the funds. I don't know what else I can do to prove the funds were taken out, and I have yet to be reimbursed/refunded.

Thank you. Wanda Shaw

Never showed, tried to send drivers from different state

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was stranded on side of highway w flat on camper. Didnt know area, AAA said my service didnt cover camper/trailer.

So googled roadside assistance, drive roadside came up.

Map had correct location, said had a driver coming. Then, that driver cancelled, got call. They apologized and looked for another driver.

The driver who called was from two states away (along same highway).

This kept up. Two hours later, rep on phone said they had to cancel first order and make a new one and would be another $95 the driver who called was the same one from before!!

I eventually had a Good Samaritan who helped me, will never call this service again and now get to try and dispute charges!!!

Need to speak with a supervisor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Apr 04, 2025

I have yet to be contacted by anyone. I have yet to receive a copy of the paid invoice.

The only contact numbers provided, as well as the only individuals to contact me are with the third-party provider.

Those personnel have told me this matter would be escalated to the respective supervisor; but nothing has come of this other than more assurances this matter was 'up most important'. I cannot over emphasis how much I have come to loath this company.

Original review Feb 25, 2025

It is impossible to actually reach this company. It's a total farce!

They have paid Google to make it appear as if they are affiliated with roadside assistance such as State Farm. They are not!

It simply connects you with a dispatch and adds upwards of an additional $150 more to the tow bill. They are total scammers!

Drive Roadside - Nobody showed after 8 hours and they charged me for canceling

I had a gas delivery and paid 159 dollars to have them come out. driver was dispatched but never showed or answered his phone.

when I called after waiting 8 hours and told them I wanted a refund because the driver never came and wouldn't answer the phone. they put me under cancelation and charged me 49 dollars for cancelation. I did not cancel, I waited plenty long enough and was told long before I called that the driver was on his way. he never came.

do not use them unless you just want them to take your money. there is no billing number to call, they will give you a website to go to and fill out a jenky form.

Shady Business tactics

Shady Business Tactics

My experience with Drive roadside was a less than ideal experience. My vehicle broke down on the side of the highway.

we reached out to Drive Roadside for towing services. After Booking a tow truck i was told that it would be a 30-45 minute wait for a driver and cost for pickup and towing back to my apartment was going to be $380 for about a 20 mile tow. understandable.

this is were things start to get shady. Before the dispatcher hung up on me and after she had recieved our payment she made sure to quickly say " the tow truck will be there in 30-45 minutes, dont cancel because if you do it will be a 50-100% charge on the card" and then hung up before i could question that.

The tow truck didnt arrive for another 3 hours, and i couldnt even try for another one because i would have had to pay for another service. In my opinion that is shady.

But im not done. once the tow truck arrived (Which drive roadside gave him the wrong location for me also) i learned that DRIVE Roadside contracts out towing companies, and the one they called happened to be a company that ive used before and am very familiar with. the driver of the tow truck also happened to be the owner of said towing company.

Very happy with them.

Today, over a week after using DRIVE Roadside we noticed another $109 charge on our account today. The first thing i did was called the Tow Driver himself (becasue remember that he is also the owner of that company) to ask why we had received another $109 charge. He said that he never did that, and that he cant charge me anything because the payment was through the DRIVE Roadside company and he was just contracted out with them and that he never even had our card info to be able to do that

Now remember that i talked to him FIRST. so next i called the Drive Roadside company and talk to a lady asking her why we got that extra charge.

she put me on hold to ask someone and in about 30 seconds (not enough time to ask someone and get an answer) came back on the line to tell me it was a "Fuel Surcharge from the company that did the tow" I told her that cant be valid because they already charged me $380 for the tow and at no point did anyone tell us of a possible 2nd charge. So $11s shy of a $500 charge for a 20 mile tow. i then told her that i had also talked to the OWNER of the towing company and he said that he never approved any other charge for that tow job. she put me on hold again and then came back and they voided the extra $109

Had we not seen the extra charge to our account we would have never know as nobody called, text, or emailed us about any type of extra charge when they still have all that info on file.

So after a $380 initial charge, a 3hr wait on the side of the highway where i was told i cant look for a quicker service because they would charge us 50-100% of the cost of the tow for canceling.

They also attempted to charge us another $109 and tried to justify that it was towing company charging them. luckily i thought to call the towing company myself before calling DRIVE Roadside so i knew that that was false was able to challenge that.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. Dont let this company have your card info. Call a Towing service directly.

they will be there faster and cheaper with less shady business tactics, they will only charge you a cancel fee if theyre already on the way if its taking to long. THIS COMPANY PULLS SHADY BUSINESS TACTICS AND WILL LIE ABOUT CHARGES IN HOPES THAT YOU WILL NOT QUESTION IT.

Supervisor refused to speak to me as well.

Save yourself the trouble. we had to cancel our card and get a new one in case they try to charge us again

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Roadsise charged 49 USD and my CC company stopped the payment

Original review Dec 18, 2024

I initially requested a service and cancelled it almost immediately. I received a confirmation text that the service was cancelled.

Now, I have a 200 USD charge on my credit card. I called them, and they said the online cancellation does not work and that I should have called.

They also say that the technician affirms that the service was provided. Bottom line - scam.

DID NOT RECEIVE SERVICE WAS CHARGED FULL AMT ANYWAY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I contacted this service on 11/2/24 when my car did not start. I called them to ask if they would be able to replace my car battery.

They said they couldn't so I cancelled the service. I was still charged $199 even though I didn't receive the service. I made an inquiry with them and they responded via email that 'their records show the service was completed.' It was not. I was able to start my car and left for work after cancelling the service.

I'm annoyed that they are keeping the money. Do not contact, they are a scam!

Deceptive Pricing & Bad Experience All Around

To start the service is extremely vague about their pricing. They state price will be discussed after the fact and is dependent on what work is done on the payment page which is a bald-faced lie.

What you pre-approve is what you pay.

Second, they are vague on the services they offer. Some are more exact but when you just have an option labeled 'tire' one would assume all emergency tire care is covered under this, not it being a strict tire change and nothing else. From my own experience the service provider who arrived did not clarify this either.

From my experience back home if you call for a tire issue where the tire is too low to safely drive on they will arrive with a portable air-filler to fix that issue. Apparently, this is not a service this business offers and does not clarify if you are making an emergency contact on mobile, something I find notably disingenuous.

Especially so when the service provider who arrived told me he lost this tool on the beach the day before arrival and could not perform that service, implying that it was something they offered when it was not. Furthermore, as everything is automated until your service provider comes there is no one for you to ask for clarification if you are worried about it.

For that reason what should have cost me about $60 costed $189.

If you're getting something easily discernable like a tow then go for it, but I would not recommend them for tire trouble whatsoever. Also if you have issues with them good luck getting that sorted out.

____

As shown in the images below there is nothing clarifying that ONLY tire changes are performed under the tire option implying all emergency tire services are provided.

Horrible

I wish I had read reviews before using this service. I saw a review about someone being charged $199, which they were told was just a hold for two gallons of gas.

I requested just one gallon and was still charged the full $199 for the delivery of one gallon of gas.

I was in a panic to get from where I was. My suggestion from what I've learned is to go with AAA.

Had a flat, I made an appointment online. It said someone was en route.

I kept getting 'updates' from them for a timeframe but the update was by 1 minute. There was no name, and the number I tried calling kept ringing and ringing. I couldn't leave a voicemail. Do not use this company.

They will take your money and never show up and will not answer your calls. I have no idea how these people are not shut down.

I've waited 2 hours now and the timeframe still says 64-70 minutes. Read all of the reviews because I wish I would have.

Shady Business Practices

If I could leave negative stars, I would. This hot afternoon on 5/27/24, my pregnant wife had a blowout on County Road 282 and contacted Driveroadside.com, the Austin, TX branch.

They quoted her an hour. The technician said he was close; they made eye contact as he drove right past her and never turned around. My wife contacted dispatch, and Anthony told her that she was not in the system and to dispute the charge. He offered no remedy or any other help.

However, she was charged $200. How can someone not be in the system, but their technician drives right by and gets charged? That's fraud/theft; no service was rendered. I will be contacting the BBB.

She was stranded for almost three hours before I could arrive. We called Leander Towing and they sent out Victor within an hour. He was awesome and very knowledgeable about places like Driveroadside.com. They are a dumpster fire of a company.

What if something had happened to my wife? How could you do that to a pregnant woman when the heat index is 100 degrees?

I am going to spread this to as many platforms as I can. Absolutely despicable.
